The Surgeon General has concluded that oral care is the #1 unmet need for children across America today. Dental caries (tooth decay) is the single most chronic childhood disease – 5 times more common than asthma and 7 times more common than hay fever. Over 50 percent of 5- to 9-year-old children have at least one cavity or filling, and that proportion increases to 78 percent among 17-year-olds. Oral health is essential to the general health and well-being of our children and plays a critical role in their ability to succeed in school and acquire positive self-esteem

At Kool Smiles, our goal is to provide access to quality dental health services to children throughout our communities. By providing this care early on, we can help to prevent serious health problems from arising later in the child's life.

In order to reach as many children as we can in our communities, Kool Smiles builds partnerships with schools and daycare centers, other healthcare providers, and community organizations who are also helping to meet the needs of our children. We work closely with these entities to educate their customers on the need for good oral health hygiene and collaborate to ensure that America's children’s overall health (medical, emotional and physical) needs are being met.
